Ant International, the international financial technology company backed by Alibaba Group (HK:9988), has raised approximately $1.2 billion in a Series A equity financing round to accelerate the global expansion of its cross-border payment and AI-powered commerce solutions.
The Singapore- and Shanghai-based company said existing shareholders, including Ant Group and Alibaba Group, participated in the funding round alongside international investment institutions.
New capital to support international growth
Ant International said the fresh capital will be used to support its global expansion and accelerate innovation across merchant payment services, account management and financial solutions for small and medium-sized businesses and larger enterprises.
The company has operated independently since 2024 and has expanded its presence across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America.
The funding strengthens Ant International’s ability to compete in the rapidly developing global payments market, where financial technology companies are increasingly combining payment infrastructure with artificial intelligence, digital account management and automated financial services.

Four businesses form Ant International’s global platform
Ant International operates four core businesses: Alipay+, Antom, WorldFirst and Bettr.
Alipay+
Alipay+ connects international merchants with consumers using different digital wallets and payment applications, allowing users to make cross-border payments through familiar platforms.
Antom
Antom provides digital payment and merchant technology services designed to help businesses accept and manage payments across different markets.
WorldFirst
WorldFirst offers international business accounts, cross-border payment services and treasury management solutions, particularly for small businesses and companies engaged in global commerce.
Bettr
Bettr focuses on embedded financing and digital financial services for businesses, including small and medium-sized enterprises.
Artificial intelligence becomes central to the strategy
Alongside its payment and financial technology operations, Ant International is placing increasing emphasis on AI-driven solutions for global commerce.
These technologies are intended to help merchants improve payment processing, automate financial operations, manage international accounts and provide more personalised services to customers.
The latest funding round gives the company additional resources to develop these capabilities while expanding its infrastructure and partnerships across international markets.
Ant International targets a larger role in global fintech
Ant International’s expansion reflects the growing demand for digital payment systems capable of connecting merchants, financial institutions and consumers across national borders.
By combining cross-border payment infrastructure, business accounts, financial services and artificial intelligence, the company is positioning itself as a broader technology platform for international commerce rather than solely as a payment provider.
The $1.2 billion financing round could help Ant International accelerate that strategy and strengthen its competitive position in the global financial technology market.
